Single Pitch Lead ClimbingIntermediate Level Course
This course is for climbers wishing to learn the complex skill leading traditional and sport climbs in a single pitch setting. The course will look at leading sport climbs (bolted climbs), placing good gear on traditional lead climbs and establishing sound anchors at the top of the pitch. We start with an in-depth review of gear placements and climbing equipment, then move on to “mock leading”, (leading with a top rope) with plenty of time on the rock.
By the end of the course you will have completed traditional lead climbs while the instructor ascends along side looking at each placement you make. This course is the prefect next step for the top rope climber that wants to start leading on the real rock!
Topics covered:
Course Prerequisites: Applicants must have taken our Foundation Level Courses or can top rope 5.6 climbs, rappel and have experience placing artificial gear and building anchors.
Number on course: Maximum of 4:1 client to instructor ratio Course length: Two days Course dates: Click Here for dates and booking information 4: $250 per person (four+ to one instructor, two days) 3: $280 per person (three to one instructor, two days) 2: $350 per person (two to one instructor, two days) 1: $500 per person (one to one instructor, two days)
*The costs are based on the actual amount of participants on the course. Courses normally run full with 4 people but in the event the courses run with less people the costs will be as shown above. Participants that do not wish to take the course with low numbers (because of the cost) can change their course to another date. The upside to lower numbers is of course a more personal course.
Our Multipitch Lead Course looks at more complex topics related to leading in the multipitch environment such as transitions, route finding, rope management, efficiency and rappelling methods.
