Wilderness First Responder Recertification

This two day course will be held at the 650 acre woodland campus of Blue Star
Camps in Hendersonville, NC. Accommodation and food is included in the course
tuition.

 | PREREQUISITE
To be eligible for renewal of certification, students must have successfully
completed a Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness EMT Upgrade, or
Recertification course taught by Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA) within
three years of the end date of the last course taken. WEMT’s must have a
current EMT license, this course will only recertify the wilderness portion of
a WEMT
We highly recommend that students take a full length course at least
every six years.

| CERTIFICATIONS AVAILABLE
All students who successfully complete a Recertification course are certified
by Wilderness Medical Associates. Certification is valid for three years.

| CLASS FORMAT
16 hours over 2 days. All students who are taking any WMA recertification
option must complete a Recertification Package prior to the course. Call the
Wilderness Medical Associates office for details. |
| CONTENT
Topics include patient assessment, body systems, equipment improvisation,
trauma, environmental medicine, toxins, backcountry medicine, wilderness
protocols and wilderness rescue. |
| BRING
Appropriate clothing for the location and time of year. Remember that, rain or
shine, much of our time is spent outside. You will also need a sleeping bag,
pens, and a notebook. |
| GRADES
Grades are based on attendance (100% required), and performance on both
written and practical final exams. To pass, students must have a cumulative
average of 80% or better.
