Fox Mountain Guides and Climbing School is ready to prep you for any mountain objective. We meet students all the time who want to refresh fast and light movement tactics and technical systems, so we put together objectives that cover thousands of feet of terrain, teaching you that efficiency is one of your greatest risk management tools in the big mountains. Are you climbing the Grand Teton? Our instructors will move you across a comparable schedule of terrain in the Linville Gorge, so you'll know exactly how fit you need to be, what equipment you will need and what you will not. Do you need to know how to burrow out a tent platform in thirty mile an hour winds? Our instructors will take you up to Roan Mountain, where the snow is deep from December until March, and show you how to live, eat, and breath while all the other mammals are still hibernating. Do you want to learn to navigate in white out conditions? Our instructors will take you on a Black Mountain traverse in the squalliest conditions you are likely to find this side of Mount Washington, NH!

Students can also join us in New Hampshire every February in pursuit of alpine training. Our chalet accommodations and proximity to severe conditions in the White Mountains offer great venues for alpine curricula of every sort imaginable.

If we can't accomplish your goals in the Southeast, we will put together a trip to find the conditions and locales that will best meet your educational goals! Our instructors are prepared to offer training on the following subjects:

  • Planning, preparation, and equipment selection
  • Mountain Weather, snow interpretation, and risk management
  • Technical travel, non-technical travel, and how to distinguish and transition between the two
  • Snow climbing and glissading
  • Self-Rescue, including self arrest, evacuation, and crevasse extraction
  • Navigation
  • Rope Team Travel and Glacier Interpretation

Let us know what your goals are, and we will put together something for you that is just right.

Recomendations

"How can I learn to climb? I asked all around Charlotte and I got the same answer from Jessie Browns, Inner Peaks and Great Outdoor Prov. Co. All three said to contact Fox Mountain Guides because they were the best out there. So with 3 Fox brochures in hand I called to schedule the Rock Climbing 101 Course. I then took the Single Pitch Lead Course and then the ‘Master Class’ in December from Adam himself. It's been the best money I've spent for climbing yet!"
