Do you have dreams of doing big wall climbing but not quite ready to go the “Free Solo” route? Fox Mountain Guides is offering an Introduction to Aid Climbing clinic that will teach participants the fundamentals of aid climbing right here in North Carolina, the Yosemite of the East.

This clinic will focus on the basics of aid climbing including gear and the systems involved with leading and following/cleaning aid pitches.

About the Instructor: Joel Fluty is FMG’s go-to guide for aid climbing instruction. While he lives in North Carolina, Joel’s passion is climbing grade V and VI big walls in Yosemite and across the West. Before moving back home to North Carolina, he spent six years out west climbing as many big walls as he could from the dramatic walls of Zion Canyon to El Capitan in Yosemite and ticked off countless grade V climbs in a day. As an AMGA Assistant Rock Guide, Joel brings his training and experience together to help clients prepare for their own big wall objectives.

Prerequisites: Ability to lead traditional routes of 5.8 or higher and have experience building both gear and natural anchors.
