For course prices, see individual course listings.
CLIMBING IS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS! It is impossible to eliminate all risks associated with climbing. Our goal is to minimize your risk, but ultimately you must assume full responsibility for your participation by signing an assumption of risk form.
We employ an industry standard cancellation policy. Please read the following carefully and then email or call the office with any questions before booking. We advise you look at ‘trip insurance’ to possibly safeguard your trip if you have to cancel or reschedule your booking.
- All deposits are non-refundable except for weather-related cancellations. (Your guide will decide if inclement weather necessitates cancellation).
- Full payment for all bookings except summer camps and bookings outside of North Carolina is due 30 days prior to the booking date. You will be charged in full if you cancel or reschedule your booking within this time period.
- Full payment for summer camps, bookings outside North Carolina, and military programs is due 90 days in advance of the booking start date. You will be charged in full if you cancel or reschedule your booking within this time period.
- All gift certificates and credits expire one year from the date issued.
We take Visa and Mastercard, cash, and checks. We will charge your outstanding balance to the credit card you placed the original order on unless otherwise instructed. You may also pay the balance by sending a check to Fox Mountain Guides, 3228 Asheville Hwy, Pisgah Forest, NC, 28768. Please include a note saying whom the payment is for, what type of guiding or course and dates of booking. Please make checks payable to “Fox Mountain Guides, LLC.” There is a $30 service charge for all returned checks.
Courses and guiding are offered throughout the year; yes, we guide 12 months of the year as the weather can be 70° in January down here in the South! If you don’t see a course date that fits your schedule, give us a call. Early booking is essential as some courses are fully booked up to 2 months in advance (especially guiding days in April through November). Last minute bookings are sometimes available so please call or email the office to find out availability.
We strongly suggest you look into ‘trip insurance’ as this may protect you from losing your money if you have to cancel your booking at the last minute.
It is your responsibility for your own transportation to and from the trailhead. For remote locations, we charge an additional fee to cover the cost of the guide’s gas. The amount of the fee varies depending on the distance from our office. Areas that are about two hours away like Linville Gorge and Crowder’s Mountain are an additional $40, while areas that are three hours away like Pilot Mtn, Stone Mtn, and Moore’s Wall are an additional $60. Out of state charges vary and should be discussed with the office before you book. Clients may wish to make arrangements with their guide to provide transportation to avoid this fee.
Camping and Food
Camping and food costs are not included in any of the multiple day courses we offer (apart from our Teen Summer Camps and New Hampshire Ice Courses and Guiding).
Please be aware that advanced medical care is normally over an hour away from the climbing and course sites, cell phones mostly do not work in the areas that the courses are run. All medical concerns, old injuries, and medications should be discussed with the Guide prior to the course or day of guiding.
