Guide & Instructor Employment

Our guides are professionals who have forgone careers as university professors, business people, and engineers to pursue a life sharing their love of the mountains with our guests. Guide Level Positions:

FMG Guides work in single and multi-pitch settings as well as instructing our skills courses when they have met our teaching standards.

  • Minimum AMGA Certifications: AMGA Certified Rock Guide
  • Minimum First Aid Certifications: Wilderness First Responder Certified
  • Minimum Age: 21 Years Old
  • Minimum Traditional Lead Grade: 5.10a
  • Work Experience: Experience working as a climbing instructor and guide in single and multi-pitch settings. We are looking for candidates that have worked for Guide Services, Summer Camps, Outward Bound, NOLS, etc. We are looking for guides with a good deal of experience and normally hire individuals that have a minimum of 100 days of instructional work under their belt.

Instructor Level Positions:

FMG Instructors work in the terrain appropriate for their level of certification. AMGA Single Pitch Instructors work with clients in single pitch terrain, while those who have completed the Rock Guide Course can work in both single and multi-pitch settings.

  • Minimum AMGA Certifications: AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor
  • Minimum First Aid Certifications: Wilderness First Responder Certified
  • Minimum Age: 21 Years Old
  • Minimum Traditional Lead Grade: 5.8
  • Work Experience: Varies; we evaluate candidates on many factors and and welcome both experienced candidates and those newer instructors looking for a start in the industry.
